On March 15, Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a message of condolences to New Zealand Governor-General Patsy Reddy over the mass shootings in Christchurch.

In his message, President Xi said he was deeply shocked to hear about the serious shootings in Christchurch. On behalf of the Chinese government, the Chinese people and in his own name, he expressed deep sympathies and sincere condolences to the government and people of New Zealand. He also extended deep condolences to the bereaved families, and wished the injured a full and speedy recovery.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang also sent a message to Jacinda Ardern, Prime Minister of New Zealand, offering his condolences to the victims and the bereaved families.
