Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali of Bangladesh

On May 21, 2014, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Shanghai with Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali of Bangladesh.

Wang Yi congratulated Bangladesh on its official accession to the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA). He said, Bangladesh is the important cooperative partner of China both in South Asia and in the Indian Ocean region. The Chinese government cherishes China-Bangladesh traditional friendship and attaches great importance to developing relations with Bangladesh. China is willing to join efforts with Bangladesh in keeping the momentum of high-level contacts and mutual visits, pushing forward the bilateral relations to another new high. China will keep encouraging Chinese enterprises to invest in Bangladesh, and support both sides carrying out practical cooperation in various fields. China stands ready to closely cooperate with Bangladesh in effectively implementing the building of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor, bringing tangible benefits as soon as possible to all parties concerned.

Ali expressed his gratitude to China for supporting Bangladesh becoming a full member of the CICA. He said that Bangladesh hopes to further enhance cooperation with China in industries, economy, trade, investment, high-tech, personnel training and other fields, and will actively participate in and promote the building of the Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor.
