Li Keqiang Holds Talks with Prime Minister Hage Geingob of Namibia, Promoting China-Namibia Relations and China-Africa Relations for Greater Development

In the morning of April 9, 2014, Premier Li Keqiang held talks with Prime Minister Hage Geingob of Namibia in Sanya, Hainan Province.

Li Keqiang said,as the only African country that attended Baoao Forum for Asia Annual Conference this year, Namibia represents the important power of the fast rising Africa. China attaches great importance to its relations with Africa and will continue to firmly support the African countries in the pursuits of development path conform to their own national conditions. I will soon visit some of the African countries. We are willing to join efforts with the African friends to promote China-Africa relations for new development.

Li Keqiang pointed out, for the 24 years since the establishment of diplomatic relationship between the two countries, China-Namibia friendly relations have enjoyed continuous development. Hope the two countries will strengthen the exchanges of experience on governance and administration of state affairs and find new highlights and supporting points of mutual benefits in the fields of practical cooperation. China encourages the Chinese enterprises to actively participate in infrastructure construction in Namibia and to conduct cooperation in investment. The prospects for the bilateral cooperation will be very broad as long as the two sides uphold innovative development concepts. China hopes that the Namibian side will approve the China-Namibia Investment Protection Agreement at an early date.

Geingob said that China is an all-weather friend of Namibia, and both countries have conducted sound cooperation in various fields. Namibia earnestly looks forward to deepening cooperation with China and welcomes Chinese enterprises to invest and establish business in Namibia to achieve win-win results in cooperation. The vast African countries support the enhancement of Africa-China cooperation under the framework of South-South cooperation. He believed that Premier Li Keqiang's upcoming African visit will uplift Africa-China relations to a new high.

Following the talks, the two Premiers witnessed together the signing of cooperative documents covering bilateral economic, technological, infrastructure construction, mining, personnel training and other fields .

Prior to the talks, Li Keqiang held a welcoming ceremony for Geingob's visit to China.
