On the afternoon of July 22, 2015, Premier Li Keqiang met at the Great Hall of the People with Governor-General Jerry Mateparae of New Zealand who was in China for a state visit.

Li Keqiang stressed that China and New Zealand are comprehensive strategic partners with mutual respect, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation. China will work with New Zealand to consolidate traditional friendship, deepen practical cooperation in such fields as agriculture, husbandry, bio-medicine, food safety and new energy, actively upgrade bilateral free trade agreement, and enhance people-to-people and cultural exchanges in various levels and channels to push bilateral relations to a new level.

Li Keqiang introduced upon inquiry China's economy and measures for deepening reform, pointing out that against the background of a weak global economic recovery, the 7 percent growth of China's economy in the first half of this year has not come easily. We are comprehensively deepening reform, carrying out an innovation-driven development strategy and vigorously promoting mass entrepreneurship and innovation, which have spurred market vitality and people's creativity and rapidly advanced service and emerging industries. We will stick to key reforms including streamlining administration and delegating power to lower levels as well as delegating power and tightening control at the same time and optimizing services, further expand opening-up and give full play to China's economic advantages including high tenacity, high potential and high flexibility so as to withstand the downward pressure and turn the challenges into opportunities. We have conditions and capability to properly handle various risks to maintain the medium-to-high speed growth of China's economy and push it toward a medium-to-high level.

Jerry Mateparae expressed that New Zealand-China exchanges and cooperation has yielded fruitful results in political, economic, people-to-people and cultural and other areas, and the government and people of New Zealand are satisfied with the development of bilateral relations. China's momentum of economic growth is of great significance to New Zealand and the rest of the world at large. New Zealand is confident in China's economic prospect and will continue joining efforts with China to explore new cooperation opportunities and make new progress in bilateral relations under the new circumstances.
