
On June 27, 2012, Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun met in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu who was in China attending the Seminar on China and the Islamic Civilization.
Zhai said that China and the Islamic world maintain friendly exchanges over the years. The bilateral relations are a role model of exchanges and cooperation among civilizations. Under new circumstances, both sides face the historic mission of accelerating development and achieving revival and enjoy key opportunities and vast potential of cooperation. He suggests the two sides deepen mutual political trust, boost pragmatic cooperation, strengthen people-to-people exchanges and push forward bilateral relations continuously.
Ihsanoglu noted that the OIC cherishes the traditional friendship with China, attaches great importance to promoting the development of relations between the Islamic world and China and is willing to further strengthen the strategic relationship with China in various fields.
The two sides also exchanged opinions on the international and regional issues of common concern.
