
On September 7, 2011, Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung met with visiting Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo in Hanoi.
Nguyen Tan Dung expressed welcome for Dai's visit and his attendance at the fifth meeting of the steering committee for bilateral cooperation, saying the meeting will help promote bilateral ties and enhance strategic mutual trust and the cooperation between the two countries in all areas.
Nguyen Tan Dung said the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), the Vietnamese government and people will never forget the valuable support that China has offered for Vietnam's struggle for national liberation and socialist construction undertakings. Vietnam was, is and will remain committed to maintaining the development of traditional friendship with China. In recent years, the two countries have strived to advance comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership as each other's good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners under the guiding principle of long-term stability, forward looking, good-neighborly friendship and comprehensive cooperation. The cooperation in various fields has achieved remarkable results and bilateral ties have broad prospects for cooperation. Vietnam is willing to further strengthen strategic mutual trust and high-level exchanges with China, consolidate friendship between the two peoples, give full play to the role of the bilateral cooperation mechanism, promote the smooth development of cooperation in various fields, and handle sensitive issues in bilateral relations with a sincere and constructive attitude.
Dai said that in the new situation, China and Vietnam should unswervingly follow the general direction of friendship and cooperation and ensure long-term sound and stable development of bilateral ties in the spirit of remaining good neighbors, friends, comrades and partners and under the guiding principle of long-term stability, forward looking, good-neighborly friendship and comprehensive cooperation. Both sides should maintain close high-level contacts, communicate in depth on bilateral relations and major issues of common interest, and properly handle sensitive issues. He also suggested both sides maintain peace and stability in the South China Sea, promote bilateral pragmatic cooperation in various fields, make great efforts to improve friendly feelings between the two peoples and work together for broader prospects of bilateral ties.
