Xi Jinping Meets with President of the Nepali Congress Party Sher Bahadur Deuba

On October 12, 2019 local time, President Xi Jinping met at the hotel where he stayed in Kathmandu with President of the Nepali Congress Party Sher Bahadur Deuba.

Xi Jinping pointed out, the Nepali Congress Party enjoys a historical connection with China. The Chinese people will not forget the Nepali Congress Party's important contributions to the development of China-Nepal relations during the party's ruling period. China and Nepal, as friendly neighbors, have always been good brothers and good friends. No matter which Nepali party is in power, the two countries will maintain stable and friendly relations. The Communist Party of China (CPC) is also willing to maintain contacts with the Nepali Congress Party, and carry out exchanges and cooperation.

Sher Bahadur Deuba warmly welcomed Xi Jinping's visit to Nepal on behalf of all members of the Nepali Congress Party, and congratulated the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Sher Bahadur Deuba said, the Nepali side attaches great importance to developing relations with China, and thanks the Chinese side for its long-term assistance in Nepal's economic and social development and its efforts to safeguard Nepal's sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Nepali side firmly adheres to the One China policy, and will never allow any anti-China force to engage in anti-China separatist activities in Nepal's territory. The Nepali Congress Party welcomes and supports the Belt and Road Initiative proposed by the Chinese side, and is glad that the party signed the cooperation document on the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative with the Chinese side during its ruling period. The Nepali Congress Party hopes to promote connectivity between Nepal and the region by jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative. The Nepali Congress Party stands ready to further cement friendly exchanges with the CPC.
