AUCKLAND, New Zealand, July 19 (Xinhuat) -- China will continue to consolidate and promote the friendship and cooperation with the New Zealand government, parliament and parties, a senior official of the Communist Part of China (CPC) said here on Friday.
Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Speaker of New Zealand House of Representatives Jonathan Lucas Hunt.
Li, who arrived here on Thursday for an official good-will visit, said the National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, has always maintained friendly cooperative ties with the New Zealand parliament.
In the new century and under new circumstances, exchanges of experiences on legislation and supervision of administration will be conducive to promoting the overall development of bilateral ties, Li said.
Hunt, who is expected to visit China this autumn, said the friendly cooperation between the two parliaments serves as an important part of the state-to-state ties and the New Zealand parliament highly values its relations with the NPC.
He hoped the NPC could send more delegations to New Zealand andboost mutual exchanges.
