Peng Liyuan and Anikó Lévai, Wife of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Visit Hungarian-Chinese Bilingual School

On the afternoon of May 9, 2024 local time, accompanied by Anikó Lévai, wife of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping,  visited the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school in Budapest.

Upon arrival, Peng Liyuan was warmly greeted by Anikó Lévai and the school principal, and the students who held the national flags of China and Hungary to welcome her on both sides of the road.

Peng Liyuan and Anikó Lévai observed with great interest classes teaching the Chinese language and traditional Chinese culture such as paper cutting and calligraphy, and had cordial exchanges with the students. Peng Liyuan said that the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school is a symbol of the China-Hungary friendship, and that she is glad to see the students speak Chinese so well. She expressed the hope that the students will work hard to learn the Chinese language and culture, visit or study in China when they have the opportunity, and work actively to carry forward and promote the China-Hungary friendship.

Peng Liyuan and Anikó Lévai watched a video on the 20-year history and development of the school and the students' talent shows such as dancing, poetry recitation and chorus, and took a group photo with the students. Before leaving, Peng Liyuan presented a batch of books on Chinese culture to the school.

Established in 2004, the Hungarian-Chinese bilingual school is a 12-year all-through public school that teaches in both Chinese and Hungarian.
